Termite Control in Yuma
ACE Entomologist-Guided Termite Treatment for Yuma Homes & Businesses
Yuma’s desert climate doesn’t slow termites down. It cycles them. Arid land subterranean termites swarm January through March, dark western drywood termites emerge June through August, and the desert subterranean termite, Arizona’s most destructive species, swarms July through September following monsoon rains. Yuma County properties face termite pressure in nearly every season, and most homeowner insurance policies don’t cover the damage. Nationally, it exceeds $5 billion annually. The longer an infestation goes undetected, the more it costs to repair.
At RAM Pest, our approach to termite control is guided by an Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) who trains and oversees every licensed technician on our team. We’ve been serving Yuma County homeowners and businesses since 2011, and we use the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System alongside targeted liquid and soil treatments to address infestations at the colony level. Free estimates are available on all residential and commercial services.

How to Recognize Termite Activity in Your Yuma Home
Yuma’s warm, low-elevation desert climate supports multiple active termite species year-round. Subterranean termites reach your home’s wood through mud tubes built from underground colonies; drywood termites establish colonies inside the wood itself. Both can be present in the same structure. Knowing what to look for, and when, gives you the earliest possible warning.
Warning signs of termite activity:
- Mud tubes – Pencil-sized tunnels of mud and dirt running along foundations, walls, or floor joists. These are the travel corridors subterranean termites build to move between their underground colony and the wood in your home while staying protected from open air.
- Discarded wings – Small translucent wings near windowsills or light sources after a reproductive swarm. In Yuma, wings can appear following the January–March arid land subterranean swarm or the July–September desert subterranean swarm, and their presence indicates an established colony is nearby or already inside.
- Damaged wood – Wood that sounds hollow when tapped, or paint that appears bubbled or blistered without any water damage. Termites consume wood from the inside out, often leaving only a thin surface intact until the damage becomes structural.
- Frass – Small sawdust-like pellets near infested areas. This is the fecal material drywood termites leave behind and signals active above-ground feeding. Frass most commonly appears June through August, when dark western drywood termites are most active at Yuma’s elevation.
Catching any of these signs early can limit what you’ll spend on repairs. If you notice something, contact RAM Pest before the next swarmer season arrives.
Termite Prevention Tips for Yuma Properties
No prevention strategy eliminates risk entirely given Yuma’s termite pressure, but reducing the conditions that attract and sustain colonies makes a measurable difference. Before monsoon season, addressing moisture drainage around the foundation removes the primary condition that enables desert subterranean termite establishment after summer rains.
- Keep wood, mulch, and debris away from the foundation to eliminate harborage directly adjacent to the structure
- Fix leaks and address moisture issues promptly; subterranean termites require soil moisture to build and maintain mud tubes
- Seal cracks and gaps in the foundation and walls to reduce entry points
- Remove dead trees, stumps, and firewood stored near the home
- Schedule annual professional termite inspections; with multiple active species and overlapping swarm seasons, a yearly check is the minimum for Yuma properties
We serve homes and businesses across Yuma County with dependable treatments, same-week scheduling, and friendly pros who know the area. Check if we’re in your neighborhood and get started today.
